Office of the SGA President

Thank You for Letting Me Serve!

Amira Said is a senior environmental science major and President of the UMW Student Government Association. She previously served a Senator and Senate Vice President.

‘I was inspired to take on the role of SGA President because I wanted to be more involved in the decisions being made on campus. It matters to me that students feel heard, and I wanted to make sure their opinions and concerns are being brought to the table.”

“I’ve always believed that student voices should shape student experiences.”

“Good leadership, to me, means being someone who listens first. It is not about being the loudest person in the room or acting like you have all the answers. It is about understanding what people need, supporting them, and helping create solutions together. A good leader stays open-minded, communicates clearly, and makes sure everyone feels included in the process.”

“Leadership is something you grow into, not something you suddenly wake up with.”
